Bootsy Collins to pay tribute to James Brown

Bootsy Collins is organising a tribute concert to funk legend James Brown, who passed away almost a year ago.

Collins has gathered musicians including Public Enemy’s Chuck D, rapper Lil' Boosie and Brown's band, The Soul Generals. Brown’s original backing band the JBs will also perform.

The event will take place this Saturday (December 22) at the Madison Theater in Covington, KY, which is close to Cincinnati, says Reuters.

Cincinnati-based King Records was Brown’s label when he started out, and Collins worked there from the age of 15.
