'I want to make it a party for everyone' says singer

Jamie T kicked off his first headlining tour of the US in Boston last night (September 12), and his debut album 'Panic Prevention' was released Stateside earlier this week.

How does this year's NME Best Solo Artist feel about his first Stateside jaunt?

"It's strange to think that the record we made at home (in England) brought us to the States," he said.

"I'm really looking forward to going to San Francisco and Seattle because I grew up listening to a lot of bands that came from there, and it's cool to visit the places bands you like come from."

Jamie said he doesn't plan on taking in many traditional sites on his tour, he'd rather just "hang with friends around town."

As for his debut headlining show at New York's Bowery Ballroom tonight (September 13), Jamie said, "I just want to make it a party for everyone. If you and your friends have a party, you can make sure everyone else does too."

Jamie T's remaining tour dates are:

New York, NY Bowery Ballroom (13)
Philadelphia, PA North Star (15)
Chicago, IL Schubas (18)
Minneapolis, MN 7th Street Entry (19)
Seattle, WA Crocodile Café (22)
Portland, OR Doug Fir Lounge (23)
San Francisco, CA Slim’s (25)
Los Angeles, CA Troubadour (26)
