Jamie T and his band The Pacemakers played a tiny club show last night (September 9) at Ginglik in London – a venue converted from a former public toliet.

The fan club gig was the singer’s first since the release of his second album 'Kings & Queens' on Monday (September 7) and featured various songs from the new record.

The band suffered a minor setback at the beginning of the show after Jamie T announced that their first song would be ‘The Man’s Machine’. They began the track but one of the samples they were using on the keyboard malfunctioned.

After trying to solve the problem the singer gave up and played the more stripped back 'St Christopher' instead, declaring: “This is what happens when you start messing around with samples, ladies and gentlemen. Keep it acoustic, keep it live!”

With the sample problem solved ‘The Man’s Machine’ was played next in the set. After the song Jamie T was passed a bucket of beers onstage, which he jokingly received like he was being presented with an award, saying "I'd like to thank God…".

Light-heartedly bantering with the crowd all the way through the show, Jamie T invited a member of the audience onstage with him after finding out he’d just got engaged and dedicated the song 'Operation' to him and his fiancée.

Hopping on and off the small stage throughout the gig, the singer danced with a friend in the audience during ‘If You Got The Money’ and walked into the middle of the room, singing, during ‘368’.

Guitarist Luis Felber also stepped down from the stage for an epic guitar solo at the climax of 'Emily's Heart' which he played from the crowd.

On various occasions Jamie T said he was losing his voice and asked the audience to sing the chorus of 'Sticks N Stones' for him.

Jamie T played:

‘St Christopher’
‘The Man’s Machine’
‘So Lonely Was The Ballad’
‘Operation’
‘Earth Wind And Fire’
‘Emily’s Heart’
‘Back In The Game’
‘Spider’s Web’
‘368’
‘If You Got The Money’
‘Sheila’
‘Chaka Demus’
‘Sticks N Stones’

Jamie T is set to be followed at the intimate Shepherd's Bush venue tonight by Mystery Jets who will be guest DJs as part of west London band The Goldhawks’ month-long residency at the venue. See A Tribe Called West for details.
