Janelle Monae has filmed A guest appearance on Sesame Street, singing original song 'The Power Of Yet' with a cast of dancers and muppets including Big Bird and Cookie Monster.

In a behind-the-scenes video made by Billboard, Monae can be seen on the famous set, teaching monster and humans alike about the power of perseverance. She said: "I am so excited to be living one of my dreams, to be here on Sesame Street. I'm here because I am teaching everybody on Sesame Street the importance and the power of 'yet'. Never, ever, ever give up because there's so much power in 'yet'."

Monáe was filming for the programme's 45th series which begins in September this year. 'The Power Of Yet' was written by the show's music director Bill Sherman, who writes many of 'Sesame Street''s songs. He said: "I always tell people we're not trying to write for any particular age group. We're trying to write for everybody. By using current pop artists on the show, it opens kids up to all those sounds. And it opens up those artists to a generation they may not have gotten to."

Monáe, who released her second album 'The Electric Lady' in September 2013, was recently nominated for Best International Female at the BRITs 2014. The awards will take place at London's O2 on Wednesday February 18, with Arctic Monkeys, Ellie Goulding and Rudimental among the performers on the night.
