Jarvis Cocker to lecture fans at gigs

Songwriter plans to incorporate talk into live show

Jarvis Cocker is planning to include a lecture in his five-date UK tour next month.

The former Pulp man also expects to showcase "heavier" new material and figure out a way to turn each gig into a disco.

Cocker delivered lectures on the art of lyrics in Manchester and Brighton earlier this year, and has told BBC News that he's keen to repeat the talks more regularly.

"Something I'm going to try on tour, God knows if it'll work, is doing some spoken word things," he explained. "I did a couple of lectures. I'm going to try and bring a bit of that into the concert maybe, in between songs."

He added: "I've also got this idea that maybe we could in some ways try and morph the concert into a disco at the end. I think it would be nice if I could blend these areas of interest that I've got. It could be an absolute disaster, I don't know. We're going to do a few tests and see if it's at all possible."

Also speaking about the follow-up to his 2006 solo debut 'Jarvis', the singer described it as an "embryo that's around the fifth or sixth month. It's got arms, got eyes, it's not quite ready to come out yet, but getting there".

Jarvis Cocker's tour kicks off at the Sheffield Academy on November 25.
