Jay Reatard plots free West Coast record store tour

Jay Reatard has announced that he will play a series of 10 free shows on the West Coast to support independent record stores.

The Memphis garage rocker will perform at record stores in cities including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.

Reatard is doing the series of all-ages free shows in order to "give back" to independent record stores that have supported him, according to a web posting on his record label Matador. These are the only dates he has scheduled on the West Coast.

The shows will also mark the release of his forthcoming album 'Watch Me Fall', which is due out in the US on August 18.

Jay Reatard will play:

Los Angeles, CA Amoeba Music (August 18)
Long Beach, CA Fingerprints (19)
San Diego, CA M-Theory (20)
Santa Cruz, CA Streetlight Records (21)
San Francisco, CA Amoeba Music (22)
Berkeley, CA Amoeba Music (23)
Jackpot Records (25)
Portland, OR Easy Street Records (26)
Seattle, WA Sonic Boom Records (27)
Vancouver, WA Zulu Records (28)
