Jay-Z's concert documentary Made In America is to be released in cinemas next year, it has been confirmed.

The movie, which was directed by Ron Howard, was first aired earlier this year on US network Showtime. However, Billboard reports that Phase 4 Films has acquired North American rights to the movie and will give it a cinema release in summer 2014.

The film follows Jay Z as he plans the Made In America festival, a two-day festival in Philadelphia he has held annually since 2012.

Performances from Drake, Pearl Jam, Run DMC, Passion Pit, Calvin Harris, Janelle Monae and Skrillex all appear in the film.

Last week it was reported that Jay-Z is being sued over a sample used on his 2009 track 'Run This Town', featuring Kanye West and Rihanna. Record label TufAmerica Inc claims that the song, which appeared on Jay Z's 'The Blueprint 3' album, allegedly samples Eddie Bo's 1969 song 'Hook & Sling' over a dozen times.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z recently announced that he is to release his own men's fragrance later this month (November). Titled 'Gold Jay Z', the rapper's debut scent is a collaboration with Ilias Ermenidis of Firmenich, the world's second-largest perfume company. It will be available in leading US department stores from November 29.
