Jay-Z playing 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' track for six hours in New York gallery

Jay-Z is performing 'Picasso Baby' from his new album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' for six hours straight in a New York gallery.

At the time of writing, the rapper was in the middle of the performance art piece at the Pace Gallery in Manhattan. The stunt is taking place in order to create a video for the song and Girls actor Adam Driver, Judd Apatow and artist Marina Abramovic are in attendance at the shoot. The performance is similar to The National's recent collaboration with artist Ragnar Kjartansson, in which the Brooklyn band played their song 'Sorrow' live for six hours straight at the Moma PS1 gallery in Long Island City, New York in May. The band played the 'High Violet' track over and over in a collaboration called A Lot Of Sorrow, performing the track 105 times.

Jay-Z is currently on course to have his first Number One album in the UK this weekend with 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' comfortably outselling its nearest rival, Michael Bublé’s 'To Be Loved.' The album is set to be Jay-Z's eighth top 40 hit in total. Jay-Z's previous highest charting album was in 2011 when 'Watch The Throne', a collaborative album with Kanye West, hit Number Three.

According to Official Chart Company data, the rapper's album will knock Mumford & Sons' 'Babel' from the top spot following a sales boost for the London band off the back of their Glastonbury headline slot.
