Miles Kane has spoken about his favourite small venue, Liverpool's Heebie Jeebies.

The club, which can be found in the centre of the city, is a popular venue among the many different bands from Liverpool as well as music fans. It even inspired a tune on The Last Shadow Puppets album he recorded with [a]Arctic Monkeys[a/] frontman Alex Turner. "Heebie Jeebies is one of those first stomping grounds for me," Kane tells NME in the video which you can watch in the video above. "Places like this are where you start out and it's been like that for loads of musicians I know. It's been a lot of good memories, a lot of fun and craziness."

Talking about the song which Heebie Jeebies inspired, Kane added: "There is one song called 'The Meeting Place' and it's about Heebie Jeebies because my first girlfriend, Amy, worked in the bar here and we wrote this tune."

Miles Kane and Maximo Park are to play JD Roots shows at their favourite small venues as part of NME's Best Small Venues campaign.

As well as supporting small gigs all over the country, the competition will see two very special homecoming gigs take place: one at the 300-capacity Cluny in Newcastle on May 2 with local boys Maxïmo Park, and the other with Miles Kane taking to the stage at Liverpool's Zanzibar on May 15. Ticket details will be announced at soon.

To vote for your favourite small venue head to now. While you're there you can also watch full interviews with the likes of Kasabian, Peace, Palma Violets, Johnny Marr, Suede, Tribes and Django Django as they talk about the venues that made them.
