JERRY LEE LEWIS RECOVERING FROM PNEUMONIA SCARE

Rock 'n' roll legend JERRY LEE LEWIS is reported to be in a good condition in a MEMPHIS hospital after being admitted with a bout of pneumonia on Friday (June 15).

The 65-year-old star was taken to Methodist Healthcare Central Hospital suffering from a recurrence of the condition that has flared up from time to time in recent years.

A hospital spokesperson told CNN that Lewis, was in "good condition. He's stable." His father-in-law, Bob McCarver, was more effusive.

"He's fine. He's got a little touch of pneumonia and they are going to keep an eye on him for a day or two," he said.

He added: "He's got some wheezing problems but other than that he's all right."

Jerry Lee Lewis, also known as the Killer, scored his biggest hits with tracks such as 'Great Balls of Fire' and 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On', both essential elements on rock's canon, in the 50s."
