Jessie J: ‘People have wished cancer on me’

'Price Tag' singer admits her music divides opinion

Jessie J has revealed that she has received death threats in a new interview.

”I’ve had people say ‘I wanna kill you and your family,” the singer told Q magazine. ”Death threats. I’ve had people say, ‘I hope you get HIV and throat cancer at the same time.”’

Jessie J – who performed at Glastonbury last weekend with her leg in a cast after falling offstage during rehearsals for Capital FM’s Summertime Ball and fracturing her ankle in two places – does admit that she and her music divides opinion, like “Marmite”.

In the interview she also revealed that she had been insulted about her looks (“[People] say I look like a drag queen”) and had even been branded a devil worshipper because of a gesture she made with her hand in the video for her single, ‘Price Tag’.

”This is 666, apparently,” she said. ”And to me it’s saying, ‘OK’. People have played ‘Do It Like A Dude’ backwards and said they can hear the devil. But people who wanna spread bad energy, I ain’t got time for them to be in my psyche.”
