Jessie J has revealed she broke down in tears after having to scrap plans to join Katy Perry on her US tour.

The 'Do It Like A Dude' singer announced she wouldn't be able to take part in Perry's 'California Dreams' tour this November as she continues to recover from foot surgery.

The singer wrote on her official Twitter page Twitter.com/jessiejofficial: "Having a cry about having to pull out of the Katy Perry tour. I am as upset as my fans believe me. My foot is just not healing as well as I hoped."

Ellie Goulding will step in for Jessie for the five scheduled shows in Hartford, Las Vegas, New York, Oakland and Los Angeles.

Perry responded by sending her best wishes to the BBC Sound Of 2011 winner and welcomed Goulding to the tour in her place.

The singer was forced to pull out of a number of festivals this summer including T In The Park, Lovebox and a performance at the iTunes Festival after breaking her foot in two places from a fall earlier this year.
