Jimi Hendrix's US debut gets DVD release
Rolling Stones and Doors men to tour the legendary guitarist's music
Jimi Hendrix's US debut performance at the Monterey International Pop Festival in 1967 will be released on DVD for the first time this fall.
'The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey' includes all the known film footage of the pivotal performance and previously unreleased interviews with the legendary guitarist. It is due to be released in the US on October 16.
It also includes The Rolling Stones' founding guitarist Brian Jones' introduction of the performance, which is widely believed to have launched Hendrix's career in the States.
A companion album of the same name is also set for release on CD and vinyl October 16.
In addition, a five-city concert tour celebrating Hendrix's music kicks off the same day at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC.
Original members of The Jimi Hendrix Experience as well as The Rolling Stones' former guitarist Mick Taylor, The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger and blues giant Buddy Guy are set to perform on the tour.
