Jimi Hendrix estate wins vodka lawsuit
Legendary guitarist's likeness was used without proper authorisation
The Jimi Hendrix estate has won a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against a company that used the legendary guitarist's likeness to promote its vodka.
The Seattle-based Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix companies filed suit against businessman Craig Dieffenbach in 2007. They accused him of trademark infringement for selling Hendrix Electric vodka, which featured Hendrix's face and signature on a purple-tinted bottle.
The Hendrix companies announced today (February 18) that they won a $3.2 million federal court judgment that orders the vodka to be pulled from the market, reports the Associated Press.
