HENDRIX - STILL A GUITAR HERO
Among the goodies donated by the star's former girlfriend are a guitar and unpublished pictures of Jimi by Linda McCartney...
A guitar belonging to JIMI HENDRIX and unpublished photographs of the dead rocker taken by LINDA McCARTNEY are among the items being auctioned to raise funds for a drugs charity.
Necklaces, Woodstock posters and a Star-Spangled Banner T-shirt that he wore at the London Marquee are among the other lots being auctioned by his former girlfriend Kathy Etchingham to raise funds for the Drugscope charity.
The auction is to be held at Bonhams And Brooks auction house in London on June 21. Etchingham said she wanted to make young people aware of the dangers of drugs.
She added: "Jimi died of a drug overdose a year after we split. But we still remained friends right up to the end. His death was such a shock and ever since I've been completely against the use of hard drugs.
"I saw him just a few hours before he died and he looked fine. He was a young man with everything to live for. That just shows how deadly drugs can be."
