Jodie Foster has ‘no regrets’ about casting Mel Gibson in ‘The Beaver’

Director/actress plays Gibson's wife in new film

Jodie Foster has said that she has “no regrets” about casting Mel Bigson in her new film The Beaver.

Troubled actor Gibson was charged with domestic abuse charges after his work on the film ended.

Foster has said that she is still “grateful” to him for his turn in the film, in which she plays his wife, reports BBC News.

“Obviously all sorts of stuff happened after the film was finished,” she said. “I certainly have no regrets about him being in the film and his performance.”

In the film Gibson plays a depressed man who communicates via a beaver hand puppet.

The actor was recently sentenced to 36 months probation and must attend a year of domestic violence counselling after a fight with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva in 2010.
