Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong talk reveal name origins at V Festival

Band also respond to 'those gay rumours' at Chelmsford

Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong talked about their unusual name at the V Festival today (August 18).

The band, who played the Virgin Sessions stage in Chelmsford, shared the origins of one of the longest names in indie-dom.

Before playing the track 'Lonely Buoy', singer Joe Lean said: “We're called Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, I know it's a mouthful but you're supposed to have fun saying it.”

The singer also teased the crowd about stand out track 'Lucio Starts Fires', explaining: “This song's about a guy I loved dearly.”

Following a series of loud whoops from the crowd the Lean quickly added: “No, I'm not gay. I tried it but...”

They played:

'I Ain't Sure'
'Lonely Buoy'
'Where Do You Go'
'Lucio Starts Fires'
'Competition'
'Baby'
'Sleazy Hughes'
'Sleazy Jim'
