Original draft of Lennon lyrics on sale

Manuscript expected to fetch over £1 million

Original draft of Lennon lyrics on sale

John Lennon’s original draft of the lyrics for The Beatles ‘A Day In The Life’ have gone on sale.

The manuscript is expected to fetch about $2million (£1.13million) and is being sold at auction house Bonhams in New York, in a sealed bid auction on March 7.

The lyrics were last sold in 1992 by the estate of Beatles road manager Mal Evans for $100,000 (£56,000) at Sotheby’s in London to an unknown collector.

Martin Gammon of Bonhams, speaking to the BBC website, said if the sale price was met it would be the most valuable musical manuscript composed in the 20th Century to be offered at auction.
