John Lennon’s final piano up for sale
Instrument was played by former Beatle the night he died
John Lennon’s "last" piano is to be put up for sale for $375,000, it was reported today (May 30).
The instrument has also been played by artists including Bob Dylan and Don Mclean.
The upright piano was used by the former Beatles member on December 8, 1980, the night he was shot dead by Mark Chapman.
The instrument was formerly part of the Record Plant Recording Studios in New York, where Lennon recorded his album ’Imagine’ in 1971.
Lennon was said to be so fond of the instrument that he had it moved to whichever studio he was working in, and staff afterwards nicknamed it the "John Lennon piano", BBC News reports.
It has been in storage since the recording studio closed in the 1990s.
