John Lennon exhibit set for New York City

An exhibition based on John Lennon’s years in New York City is set to open next month at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC.

The exhibition entitled ‘John Lennon: The New York City Years’ will include many artifacts from Lennon’s life in New York, from photographs to musical instruments, handwritten lyrics and artwork.

Lennon’s Green Card and letters that petitioned for his American visa will be included, some of which were written by the likes of Joan Baez, Dick Clark and John Lindsay, the mayor of the city from 1966 to 1973.

His famous New York City T-shirt will be on display, as well as a self-portrait with his fist in the air imitating the Statue Of Liberty.

A portion of proceeds from the exhibition will go towards Spirit Foundations, a charitable organisation created by Lennon and Yoko Ono.
