JOHN PEEL is set to be immortalised – in flowers.
The late DJ is to have a red tulip named after him, bulbs of which will be sold to raise money for musical performances in schools.
The flower has the blessing of Peel’s widow Sheila, who said: "All of our family and friends are proud to see John's name remembered in such a fitting way, and I am sure he would be amused by us all coming out to see him `in bed' each spring in our gardens."
The Tulip John Peel was named by Springfields Horticultural Society in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
As previously reported on NME.COM, Peel is also to be remember with a special Radio 1 day of gigs on October 13, the anniversary of the DJ’s last show.
