Ex-Stone Roses star John Squire to launch first major solo art exhibition

'Heat, Light, Death And Industry' debuts this July

Former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire has announced his first major solo art exhibition at a public art gallery, set to take place in Oldham this summer.

Squire will present 'Heat, Light, Death And Industry' at the Gallery Oldham from July 7 to September 5.

Squire's next solo exhibitions of original work are scheduled to take place at Gallery Thiele in Linz, Austria, in October 2009 and at Tokyo's Hipster Club in November 2009.

Works in the exhibition will be comprised of oil, wax, lead and rusting steel, and the theme is focused on the role cardboard boxes play in our society.

See Johnsquire.com for more information.

In March Squire appeared on BBC Newsnight to deny rumours that The Stone Roses were about to reunite.

I think it's great that he's so passionate about his art, even though nobody else gives a rat's cock and would much rather see a Roses reunion than another load of tedious splattered paint canvases.

shityourlegoff, some people do give a rat's cock, and if you did a bit of research you'd realise his art is not just about 'splattered paint canvases'. He has taken a new direction in his career, and has moved on, unlike you apparently, what would the roses reforming achieve? let the legend lie

Any true fan of The Stone Roses will appreciate the fact that a reunion nowadays would be utterly disastrous and completely fuck up the band's legacy. I'm aware that pretty much anything would be better than the Reading 96 appearance but i'ld still rather they left it as it is. For the record, shityourlegoff, Squire's art is brilliant, and diverse for that matter. Certainly not just "tedious splattered paint canvases" as you incorrectly state.

Hi John, good to see you on here defending your splattered canvases.
