Johnny Cash train station to be returned

The train depot is set to become a museum

A train station which belonged to Johnny Cash is to be returned to its original location and turned into a museum.

The late country legend purchased the soon-to-be-demolished Amqui Station along the Louisville and Nashville Railroad tracks in Madison, Tennessee, in 1979.

According to Associated Press, he moved then moved the depot to his house in nearby Hendersonville.

However, following Cash’s death in 2003, the building was bought by Halo Properties, who are now donating it to Madison council.

President of Discover Madison’s board of directors, Nathan Massey, has said that the town intend to bring the station back to its original home, and that they hope the move will return some old spirit to the community.

He explained: “For many years, we had generations of the same families and everyone knew each other. The demographics have changed, and since then Madison has lost some of its identity."
