A man has denied conspiring to kidnap and murder singer Joss Stone.

Kevin Liverpool, who is 34 and from Manchester, pleaded not guilty at Exeter Crown Court today (October 24) in response to charges that he conspired to harm and rob the singer. Junior Bradshaw, 31, who is also charged with conspiring to harm and rob Stone, was also in court, but did not enter any pleas.

Both men have been remanded in custody and will appear in court again in December. A formal trial for the case will begin on August 6, 2012, reports BBC News.

The men were arrested on June 14 this year after a suspicious vehicle was seen near Stone's home near Cullompton in Devon. They were detained by police and were both later charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and robbery.

Stone, who has previously described the alleged plot as "a bit of a compliment", was not in court, but her mother Wendy was present in the public gallery.
