Joy Division actor wins award for Ian Curtis portrayal
Joy Division's Curtis was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1979 and prescribed medication. It was thought to have contributed to his depression and subsequent suicide.
Sam Riley picks up Rising Star prize
Sam Riley has won the Rising Star Award at this year's Richard Attenborough Film Awards for his portrayal of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.
The former 10,000 Things singer, starred in the biopic 'Control', directed by former NME photographer Anton Corbijn.
Riley also played The Fall frontman Mark E Smith in 2002's '24 Hour Party People', but did not make the final cut. His next film is British sci-fi flick 'Franklyn', directed by Gerald McMorrow.
Other winners at Richard Attenborough Film Awards include 'Atonement' for Best Film.
