Justice: 'Pop music doesn't excite us'

Gaspard and Xavier also reveal the meanings behind their album name

Video: Justice - 'Pop Music Doesn't Excite Us'

Justice have said that the reason they've cut down on doing remixes is because pop music no longer "excites" them.

Speaking in the exclusive video interview which can be seen above, the duo of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, who were famed for remixes for the likes of Britney Spears, Daft Punk and N.E.R.D, said they didn't feel as interested in the current state of the charts as they did when their self titled debut album came out in 2007.

Asked about remixes De Rosnay:

"We thought we needed to make a bridge between acts like Justin Timberlake and bands like us (but) right now pop music doesn't excite us, as it did in the mid '00s."

Meanwhile in another interview which can be seen below the band talk about the meanings behind the title of 'Audio, Video, Disco'.

De Rosnay said: "It means 'I hear, I see, I love'. The main reason why we chose it because it sounds cool and reads cool but also we found it interesting that it has a modern appearance but it's actually an old motto. There's an ancient sense to it."

He added: "We also (got the words) tattooed two years ago, so it justifies a really bad tattoo."

For an exclusive interview with the band, who release their new album on Monday (October 24) pick up this week's new issue of NME, which is on UK newsstands now (October 20) or available digitally.
