Justin Bieber has claimed that he wants to retire from the music industry after releasing his next album.

The singer was speaking to the Power 106 FM radio station in Los Angeles when he hinted that he did not want to continue his recording career and that his next studio LP could be his last.

Asked what his plans for the future were, he replied: "The new album... I'm actually retiring. I'm retiring man. I'm just gonna take some time. I think I'm probably going to quit music."

However, Digital Spy report that representatives for Bieber said his comments were made in jest, and the singer also commented in the interview that he wanted to "grow as an artist" and for his "music to mature". The Independent, meanwhile, says his UK representatives were unavailable for comment.

Bieber also spoke about his public image and insisted that people's perceptions of him were misguided, stating: "People think I'm arrogant, I'm not, I've always been a caring and giving person. I'm here solely for my fans and for the music."

His new album, 'Journals', is set for release on December 23. He has recently been releasing a new track each week under the umbrella of his Music Mondays series, and also collaborated with Chance The Rapper on a track titled 'Confident' – listen below.
