Justin Bieber has been knocked off the top spot of the UK Singles Chart this week by fellow Canadian singer Shawn Mendes.

Mendes' hit 'Stitches' has made a slow climb to Number One after first entering the Top 100 some 17 weeks ago in October. It has been in the Top 40 since December.

The track beat last week's Number One, Bieber's 'Love Yourself', by 1,500 combined chart sales. It is teen star Mendes' first Number One single in the UK.

Bieber also occupies third and fourth spots of the chart, with 'Sorry' at Number Three and 'What Do You Mean' at Number Four.
