Justin Timberlake, Beyonce take home Kids' Choice Awards
But first they're covered in green slime
The show, hosted by American cable television network Nickelodeon, is known for covering its guests in green slime -- a trademark of the kids' network for more than 20 years.
Gwen Stefani's manager dubbed the Awards "one of the most important shows on the planet", as it usually attracts more than 6 million viewers and this year garnered 40 million votes from the all-important under 18 demographic.
The event was held at UCLA and featured a performance by Stefani as well as appearances by numerous top-tier celebrities including Orlando Bloom, Jack Black, Nicole Kidman and Mandy Moore -- many of whom were covered in green slime before the night was over.
Timberlake hosted the event wearing protective goggles while wielding a slime-spewing hose on his victims.
Black Eyed Peas took home the prize for Favourite Music Group, beating out competition from Fall Out Boy, Nickelback and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
