The Leeds group aren't impressed by new bands

Kaiser Chiefs have hit out at the current music scene, claiming the late 70s punk scene was far more exciting.

Drummer and principal songwriter Nick Hodgson believes too many bands are jumping on Arctic Monkeys’ bandwagon.

Speaking to NME.COM, the drummer said: "There’s so much shit in guitar music at the moment. You imagine an A&R man seeing this bandwagon, jumping on it and signing any old shit with a guitar around its neck.

"I was watching this film about . It got me thinking how everything was so average nowadays."

However, Hodgson believes newcomers The Twang
could offer salvation.

He said: "Arctic Monkeys were the last of the best and we need something else now to get us out of it. Maybe it’s The Twang."

Also in this week’s NME, we review Bloc Party’s new album, get comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to devise a Libertines movie and speak to the Arctic Monkeys about their new album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'.
