Kaiser Chiefs played a unique intimate gig this afternoon (February 17) in front of a crowd numbering less then a hundred.

The band prepared for their UK tour which kicks off in Manchester on February 21, with the special acoustic show at the Gibson Guitar Studio in central London.

Stripped of a drum kit which allowed drummer Nick Hodgson to move between percussion and acoustic guitar, the band used the short set to preview songs from their forthcoming second album ’Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ which is released on February 26.

Opening with current single ’Ruby’, frontman Ricky Wilson joked with the crowd, telling them: “if you know it sing-a-long, if not where have you been? It’s on the radio all the time!”

He then belated introduced the concept of the session, explaining, “I didn’t explain before, but obviously we’re doing it acoustically”.

The singer then followed his bandmates’ lead and used the unusual arrangement to test out his multi-instrumentalist skills, adding bongos to ’I Predict A Riot’ before telling the audience, ”the bongos were a joke by the way!”

Kaiser Chiefs played:

’Ruby’
‘Heat Dies Down’
‘Love Is Not A Competition (But I’m Winning)’
‘I Predict A Riot’
‘I Can Do It Without You’
‘Modern Way’
‘Everything Is Average Nowadays’
‘Oh My God’

Songs from the afternoon gig are now set to be broadcast on Virgin Radio this Thursday (February 22). See Virginradio.co.uk for more information.
