Kaiser Chiefs have hit back at Oasis' Noel Gallagher, who recently made disparaging remarks about the Leeds band.

Noel Gallagher recently criticised Kaiser Chiefs, comparing them to The Monkees and saying that he didn't like the band despite the fact that he "did drugs for 18 years".

Kaiser Chiefs' drummer Nick Hodgson has since hit back at Gallagher, implying that the Oasis man is seeking publicity for his band's forthcoming new album, 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

"We're definitely not offended but I do actually like it, I think it's a bit of sport," he told BBC Newsbeat after the band's V Festival appearance in Chelmsford yesterday (August 17).

"It is funny though," he continued, "because it does happen [Gallagher criticising bands] every single time they put out an album. And the last two albums it's been us [getting the brunt of it].

"When I was 17 and Noel was going on about Blur I was watching it, and now I'm 30 and he's 50 and he's talking about us, it's brilliant."

Kaiser Chiefs headlined the 4Music stage at the V Festival last weekend (August 16 and 17).

well first of all Noel Gallagher is 41. not 50.and also, it happens all the time! not just when oasis are putting an album out. it just gets publisised more because Noels getting more interviews..another thing, look how ridiculous Kaiser Cheifs look in that picture hahaha! well ricky wilson anyway.

You would have thought being in something that vaguely resembles a band himself he'd have realised new albums entails media coverage which means people ask questions which noel then answers. Im sure if you asked Noel every day he's thoughts on the kaiser chiefs he'd have the same answer... shit!

publicity.... wasnt it ricky who came out and said oasis have their heads up their own arse and that they should move over because the kaisers were a better band........if anything ricky Noel is hitting back and you are the one who wants publicity....I think it was chris moyles who said you were singing rock and roll star on rockband......whats it to be ricky do you hate oasis or do you wish you were oasis

Two of the best bands on the planet, I'm not getting involved. October will see who the better band is :) Nick & Ricky are gods rubbersoul, Caleb Folan, now he's a wanker of the highest kind, same goes for Richard Ashcroft.

Soundedd what does Caleb Folan have to do with anything? He plays up front for Hull City!On topic though, it's not as if Noel goes out of his way to slag people off or whatever. He gets interviewed all the time, what with being part of one of Britain's biggests bands. It's not as if he calls press conferences just to declare someone shit. What makes me laugh though is as soon as he declared how much he liked Kasabian, some people then decided to take up hating Kasabian because they'd got Noel Gallagher's seal of approval. So no matter what he says or does some narrow minded people will always disagree or try and find fault with him.

To a11markWhen Ricky said about the oasis 'have their heads up their own arse' he was talking to someone in a pub. That person then went to the press and apparently changed the story slightly. its not as if he was trying to promote anything since the kaiser chiefs album was out in Feb 07, and the comment was said this yearGood one 'saintcube'....you called him fat, how clever, and totally mature, there are also 4 other members and he's not fat. The reason poeple are still talking about oasis is because he always insults bands that are better than oasis

gan on noel keep puttin out the bait n keep gettin the bites!! Noels earned the right to say wot ever he wants about any current musician!! or incase of the kaiser chiefs attempting musicians!! I dont think he needs the publicity cos there are still some real music fans who appreciate great working class rock n roll rather than skinny jean wearing posh mockney shite!! It makes me laugh to see all the idiots on here taking one side or another... on a musical scale Kaiser Chiefs and Oasis are about as similar as its possible to be without being the same band. They both make derivative, plodding Britpop type shite. How could anyone like one and not the other?
