Kaiser Chiefs scotch tabloid rumours about their future

Band tell fans they 'couldn't be happier' with their current situation

Kaiser Chiefs have issued a statement to fans telling them not to believe recent tabloid reports about their future.

Last week (February 3), the story claimed that the band were set to take time off after their last single, 'Good Days Bad Days', failed to make the Top 100 in the UK singles chart.

The newspaper quoted a source as saying the band were "taking time to reflect, take stock and enjoy life away from the limelight".

However, in a message sent out to the band's fanbase today (February 9), the band refuted the statement.

"We're not usually ones to defend our patch, we don't need to, but just occasionally a time comes to speak up," the statement said.

"What do we have to be devastated about? We're halfway though our most enjoyable and biggest tour of Europe, and couldn't be happier with the way it's going.

"'Off With Their Heads' is our favourite Kaiser Chiefs album to play live, we're proud of it. And it's done well, our third album in the UK to chart in the top two and 'Never Miss A Beat' went top five at a time when British indie bands don't seem able to do that anymore.

"It's sold over half a million albums and is still going, where's the doom and gloom in that? Not here. We thought we owed it to our fans to flag this one up, don't believe all you read!"

The band return to the UK and Ireland later this month to play the following gigs:

Dublin O2 Arena (19 February)
Belfast Odyssey Arena (20)
Nottingham Trent Fm Arena (22)
Sheffield Arena (23)
Birmingham NIA (24)

Shame. I was feeling a whole lot better about life thinking that this shower of shite might be splitting. Oh, well. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.Good to see the British public are getting wise to how godawful they are now by not buying their singles - or their gig tickets. I'm sure I'm speaking for MANY MANY people when i say, that makes me smile

That is fucking hilarious! Ironic that they've always tried to make lowest common denominator indie-pop with no real substance in an effort to be big, and they still can't get into the Top 100. fucking embarrassing! Give up!

The Kaiser Chiefs are a great band. So nice of the morons posting on here to start dissing them. Their biggest fault was working with that tosser Mark Ronson. He really chopped their balls off, on the album. Its like taking Motorhead, and asking Armand Van Helden to produce them. Never going to work. Even though, there were a lot of great melodies, and tunes on the album, it really did lack spice. I say hunt down Mark Twatty Ronson, and administer a good kicking. That tosspot will not be responsible for the downfall of the Kaisers. You want to start putting people down, start with those pretentious, pricks, Franz ' Yes I know who the fuck he is' Ferdinand.

I still love Kaiser Chiefs, as do many others. A load of bitchy comments from the tabloids, NME or its readers aren't going to change that, and the band clearly aren't taking it to heart either. So why don't you ^ all do yourselfs a favour and stfu.

They were responsible for their own downfall long before Mark Ronson got his greasy hands on them. I like how they still refer to themselves as an "Indie" band, even though their latest record deal meant they each got paid more than any real Indie Label would make in profits in a year. Have they never heard of the word Pop? lol

What the fuck? Since when have the charts been important to any self-respecting Indie band. And yes, they are indie because that's a genre of music MartynDavenport - get out of the 80's. Oh yeah...and Kaiser Chiefs are AMAZING by the way so go listen to Oasis all people slagging them off!

Indie isn't a genre 04bootd, it's a subgenre of pop music, invented by bands that think they're too cool to be classed as pop, despite releasing wallet emptying commercial drivel. And I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than listen to the Kaiser's lips, or Oasis.

Martyn you showed everyone that you have no Idea what you are saying. Kaiser Chiefs are an Indie-Rock/Garage-Rock Band. A pop band is a band which just sings to the instrumental playback and they cannot play instruments! So Martyn. Think before you open your mouth and garbage is coming out of it. Greetings from Germany!
