Kanye West tops Grammy nominations

The rapper is up for eight gongs

Kanye West has topped the nominations list for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards.

The rapper has been tipped in eight categories, as have singers Mariah Carey and John Legend.

50 Cent, Beyonce Knowles, Black Eyed PeasWill.I.Am and Stevie Wonder garnered six nominations a piece, while Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Gwen Stefani and U2 received five.

Common, Destiny’s Child, Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, The Neptunes, Brad Paisley, Phil Tan and Gretchen Wilson each earned four nods.

The Grammy Awards are set to take place on February 8 at Los AngelesStaples Center and will be broadcast in the US through CBS from 8-11.30pm.

Speaking about their four nominations for Record Of The Year (‘Feel Good Inc.’), Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals (‘Feel Good Inc.’), Best Urban Alternative Performance (‘Dirty Harry’) and Best Short Form Music Video (‘Feel Good Inc.’), Gorillaz2D said: “That’s er… wicked. My mum’s gonna be well pleased.”

Guitarist Noodle added: “On behalf of all of Gorillaz I’d like to say we’re all really pleased to hear this. It’s a real honour.”
