Kanye West is facing a lawsuit over an uncleared sample on his track 'Girls Girls Girls', according to reports.

The rapper only settled another legal dispute earlier this month (March 12), when he and Jay-Z were sued by soul singer Syl Johnson for using a sample from his track 'Different Stokes' on their song 'The Joy'.

According to Rolling Stone, however, he is now facing another lawsuit from Persuaders singer Robert Poindexter, who claims that West used a sample from his hit 'Trying Girls Out' on 'Girls Girls Girls', which featured on his 2006 mixtape 'Freshman Adjustment 2', without seeking his permission.

Poindexter is seeking $500,000 (£312,450) in damages, and also claims that the hip-hop star must have been aware that the sample had not been approved, as he had previously used a cleared version for a previous track, also titled 'Girls Girls Girls', which featured on Jay-Z's 2001 LP 'The Blueprint'.

The singer – who said he had discovered the mixtape online "by chance" in 2011 – claims that he should still be entitled to financial compensation even though the song wasn't given a proper commercial release. He alleges that West "willfully infringed the copyright for private and financial gain by selling and distributing an untold amount of physical and digital copies of the illegal version (mixed tapes/street albums) to the general public on internet downloads and through the mail",

West and Jay-Z will be in the UK this summer to tour their 'Watch The Throne' project. The pair only released their debut album as 'The Throne' last year, but Jay-Z has previously hinted that their second release will be out this year.

He said of his and West's future plans: "We – I say 'we' because I'm in Throne mode – we're in a great place creatively. You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year… We've really found our zone."

Kanye West/Jay-Z will play:

London O2 Arena (May 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)
Manchester Evening News Arena (June 11, 12)
Birmingham's LG Arena (13, 22)
Sheffield Motorpoint Arena (21)
