Kanye West debuts new song inside a pyramid in New York – watch

Rapper rants about his celebrity at Adult Swim party

Kanye West performed a new song for the first time in New York last night. See above for fan-shot footage of the performance.

The rapper was performing at the Roseland Ballroom at a party thrown by TV network Adult Swim and played live inside a pyramid type structure. West performed one new song, the same untitled track as debuted during a recent Hudson Mohawke DJ set, as well as embarking on another of his now infamous rants. Tackling his public image and upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live, West said:

"One thing about me. I’m the worst kinda, worst kinda, worst kinda celebrity because all I do is make real music. All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real shit. and that’s it. That’s motherfucking it. That’s motherfucking it. So I don’t want nobody trying to run up on me with no cameras, trying to sell pictures and shit to magazines, asking me no dumbass questions. throwing me off of my focus and shit. Harassing you all motherfucking day. I ain’t no motherfucking celebrity."

Consequence of Sound reports that West went on to add: "[I had a friend ask me, 'Are you gonna go on] SNL and you’re going to do like a skit about the paparazzi and shit and like humanise yourself?’ I ain’t here to apologise to no motherfuckers, man. It ain’t about me humanising myself. At what point did I become unhuman where I had to turn myself back? Or maybe i was demonised. Or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that kind of situation. I ain’t no motherfucking celebrity. I ain’t running for office. I ain’t kissing nobody’s motherfucking babies. I drop your baby and you sue me and shit. I’m trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best they can be. I don’t want nobody to ask nothing else of me. Don’t ask nothing else of me."

West recently posted a mysterious tweet which read: "June Eighteen." The rapper updated his Twitter account with the message, leading fans to speculate that June 18 could see the rapper release new material. Just before the tweet it was reported that Kanye has finished recording his new album, the follow-up to 2010's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'. The rapper also played a brand new song called 'I Am A God' at the Met Gala in New York on May 6.

Odd Future and Skrillex are both rumoured to feature on the forthcoming new Kanye West album with members of Odd Future and producer Skrillex having recently joined West in the studio alongside MC Chief Keef and John Legend. It was also previously revealed that Daft Punk have also worked on tracks on the new album.
