Kanye West wants to buy Elvis Presley's iconic Graceland home for his girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

The Daily Star says that the rapper is hoping to buy the property, which is said to be worth around £55 million, as a home for him, Kardashian and their daughter North West. "There have been constant whispers that it's due to go on the market, as long as it stays open to the public and as a place for Elvis fans to visit," said a source.

"Kanye is really excited about the prospect of owning it. He thinks it would be really cool if he, Kim and baby Nori [North's nickname] lived there, at least some of the time."

The source also claimed that Kanye hopes that restoring Graceland will boost his reputation, adding: "Kanye has always been intrigued by Elvis, especially his influence in bringing blues and gospel music to the masses. Kanye thinks owning Graceland and restoring it to its former glory would cement his place in showbiz history."

Kanye West released his new album 'Yeezus' in June of this year. Earlier this week, producer Rick Rubin - who worked with the rapper on the LP - hinted that there was enough material left over from their studio sessions to release a follow-up record.

Meanwhile, author Bret Easton Ellis recently talked about his own work with West and confirmed that he is writing something new with the rapper. Ellis, who penned Less Than Zero and The Rules Of Attraction, teamed up with West earlier this year on a short film inspired by another of Ellis's works, American Psycho.
