Universal Music Enterprise has announced plans to reissue a series of seminal hip-hop albums this autumn.

The so-called "Respect The Classics" reissue campaign, which aims to "spotlight iconic, genre-defining albums" from the vaults of the Def Jam, Interscope, Priority and Virgin Records imprints, actually got underway on September 3 with albums by NWA, Ice Cube Eazy-Duz-It and EPMD all coming out in special editions.

A pair of albums by DMX will be given the reissue treatment next month (October) followed by a 10-year anniversary platinum vinyl edition of 50 Cent's 2003 debut 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin'' on November 12.

Meanwhile, reissues of classic hip-hop LPs by Public Enemy, Slick Rick, Onyx and Gangstar are all on the release slate for this November and December.

Other albums set to get the special reissue treatment as part of the Respect The Classics campaign include Eminem's 'The Real Slim Shady', Kanye West's '808s & Heartbreak', 2Pac's 'Greatest Hits', NERD's 'In Search Of', Common's 'Like Water For Chocolate' and Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter', though none of these has been given a release date yet. Further information is available on the Respect The Classics website.
