Kanye West has claimed that he has spent $13m (£8m) trying to get into the fashion industry.

The huge sum was revealed during a new interview on Shade 45 with US radio and TV presenter Sway Calloway in which he lost his temper with the host and rapped over an instrumental of Nine Inch Nails' 'Closer'. Scroll down to hear the freestyle now.

Speaking about West's recent deal with sports manufacturer Adidas, Calloway put it to his guest that he does not need a big corporation to empower him. This sparked an intense exchange which culminated in West saying: "How Sway? You ain’t got the answers, man. You ain’t got the answers. You ain’t got the answers. You ain’t got the answers, Sway. I’ve been doing this more than you.”

Discussing the large sums of money he has spent on pursuing fashion, West continued: "I just told you I lost the money because I did not have the knowledge [to] do it the right way… I’m not trying to embarrass y’all. What I’m trying to say to y’all is this industry of what I’m trying to get into — ain’t nobody ever broke down. Ain’t nobody broke down. We all slaves. So, I ain’t trying to disrespect you on your show. We all slaves to something."

Speaking in a different radio interview earlier this week, West confirmed that he has signed a deal with sports manufacturer Adidas after his relationship with Nike broke when they refused to let him take royalties on his products. West claimed his new deal will see him become "bigger than Walmart".

It was reported that West is planning to release his next solo album in Summer 2014.
