Kanye West has said that he puts his life at risk when he plays live, comparing his job to that of a police officer or a soldier.

West is currently touring America in support of his new album 'Yeezus'. The elaborate live show involves a huge artificial snow-covered mountain being erected in the arenas he is playing and it is this element of the show which the rapper says poses the biggest risk to his health.

Speaking to Saturday Night Online in his latest interview, West discussed the chances of him slipping and harming himself while performing live. "I'm putting my life at risk, literally!" he exclaimed. "When I think about when I’m on the 'Can’t Tell Me Nothing', and 'Coldest Winter' moment, like that mountain goes really, really high. And if I slipped… You never know. And I think about it."

West then proceeded to compare the risks of his live show to other professions, "I think about my family and I’m like, 'wow, this is like being a police officer or something', in war or something. I’ll explain to my daughter my one day, that me and her mother, we had to fight for this position that we’ll finally have."

Earlier this week West publicly dismissed a spoof online news story which satirically suggested that the rapper had claimed he was the "next Nelson Mandela".

Meanwhile, the rapper has said that his next album, which he is working on with Q-Tip and Rick Rubin, will contain just "eight songs". In a recent interview, the rapper revealed that he plans to release the follow-up to this year's 'Yeezus' in the summer of 2014.
