Kanye West spoke about his admiration for Jay Z and wife Kim Kardashian at Cannes Lions Festival, an annual awards show and festival for professionals in the creative communications industry.

Appearing on a panel called Technology, Culture And Consumer Adoption: Learning To Read The Cultural Landscape, West touched on the recent $3bn deal between Dr Dre, Jimmy Iovine and Apple for Beats Audio and Beats Electronics and last year's alliance of Jay Z and electronics giant Samsung. The Apple fan – who has previously compared himself to late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, said he, personally, is only interested in allying with entities he considers to be at the top of their game, reports Adweek.

Kanye said: "There would have been no Beats deal without the Samsung deal. It showed the number one company the importance of connecting with culture. The reason I said I didn’t like Samsung particularly is because, throughout my entire life, because of how my parents raised me, I have to work with the number one. I can’t work with anyone but Jay Z because he’s number one. I can’t be with any girl but Kim because that’s the girl whose pictures I look at the most and get turned on by.

West continued: "I’m not going to represent any company but Louis Vuitton, because that’s number one. Samsung is not quite Apple, but it showed that Jimmy [Iovine] and Dre would be able to connect with the number one influencers."

In spite of his comments, West has an alliance with sports manufacturer Adidas, which, on announcing, he said would see him become "bigger than Walmart".

West's kind words about Jay Z should pour cold water on rumours that the pair have fallen out since Jay Z failed to attend West and Kardashian's wedding. It was reported that West repeatedly skipped his 'Watch The Throne' partner's name in song lyrics during his recent Austin X Music Festival performance.

Jay Z missed West's wedding to Kim Kardashian in Italy, choosing instead to spend a weekend in the Hamptons with his wife Beyonce. Although the couple were reportedly invited to the bash, they have yet to provide an explanation for their absence.

Kanye and Kim were wed at a 16th century Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy last month (May) in a celebration that included performances from Andrea Bocelli and Lana Del Rey.
