Karen O and Spike Jonze perform 'The Moon Song' - watch

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman will also play at the Oscars on March 2

Karen O and Spike Jonze have performed 'The Moon Song' together. You can watch a video of the performance at the top of the page, via Pitchfork.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman appeared on Los Angeles radio station KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic programme recently, where she played the track with Jonze and production designer KK Barrett. The song was co-written by O and Jonze and is taken from the director's latest movie, Her.

It was announced on Thursday (February 13) that O will perform 'The Moon Song' at this year's Oscars awards ceremony, which is due to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 2. The track is nominated for Best Original Song alongside Pharrell's 'Happy' and U2's 'Ordinary Love', amongst others. Her is also nominated for Best Original Score, Best Picture, Best Production Design and Best Writing - Original Screenplay.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about the nomination earlier this year, Karen O said: "Holy smokes. I had zero clue! To say this was unexpected is an understatement."

She added: "It's wild because 'The Moon Song' was written and recorded in the most humble of circumstances; at my dining room table, a few paces away from the couch where I read the script for 'Her' for the first time."
