Kasabian are set to release a one-off EP later this summer after writing loads of new songs in their time off.

Although the band don’t plan to start working on their third album until the winter, the group will put out the ‘Fast Fuse’ EP on September 3 on a limited edition 10-inch, after they coming up with a handful of new songs at home.

“This was done in my house in a little room downstairs,” explained guitarist and main songwriter Serge Pizzorno. “Just in front of a computer, I produced it all myself.”

The group said they decided to release the songs as they were desperate to get something out to the fans who have been supporting them at festivals all summer.

“Because we’re just doing all these festivals we thought ‘Why don’t we just put one out and crack on’,” said Pizzorno.

He added: “I’m in a really, really rich vein of form as far as songwriting goes. I’m in a really good patch where everyday something happens. There was no point in saving it you know, because we’ve got equally good songs for the album. So this marks this summer and what we’re doing at the moment.

"I think the fans who first got into us, they’ll really appreciate it, they’ll feel we’ve not disappeared into fucking arenas and all that. It’s like, ‘There’s a bit more music for you for people to enjoy’.”
