Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has revealed that he sent a bunch of flowers to the shrine of late singer Amy Winehouse.

Meighan, who learnt of Winehouse's passing courtesy of a phone call from his bandmate Serge Pizzorno, said that he had been "really shocked” by the news and had "had a little tear".

Speaking to Music Week, the singer said:

I was really shocked. My body went cold. Before Back To Black came out we had a sing song around hers… it was great, lovely memories. I was singing one of my songs and then she just sang and I was like, 'Wow what a lovely voice!' – just nice.

He added:

I am just so sorry. I had a tear, a little tear. I was in shock. My body went cold. I sent over some flowers today to her shrine from Kasabian – where all those people are putting all flowers – a big bunch of flowers from us. I think that’s respectful. She was lovely, wasn’t she?

It was reported yesterday (July 28) that Winehouse’s record label were allegedly considering posthumously releasing 12 new tracks by the singer, after an anonymous source claimed that although the songs were unfinished, their "framework" was in place.

Winehouse was cremated on Tuesday (July 26) at a private service, attended only by friends and family. She passed away on Saturday (July 23), aged 27.
