Kasabian added to BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend bill

Leicester rockers will play the June festival's opening day (June 23)

Kasabian have been added to the line-up for BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend event: a huge outdoor festival set to take place this summer to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games.

The event will take place on London's Hackney Marshes on June 23–24 and will hold up to 100,000 people. Rihanna will headline the event's second night (June 24), with Jay-Z closing the show on the event's opening night (June 23).

Kasabian will play on the festival's opening day (June 23), joining the likes of Florence And The Machine, Plan B, Lana Del Rey and Jack White in playing the event.

BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend will act as the station's annual One Big Weekend festival. Last year's event was held in Carlisle. The majority of the tickets for the event, which will all be free, will be given to residents of Hackney and the surrounding London boroughs.
