Kasabian have spoken about their plans for the follow-up to 'Velociraptor!' and have "loads of stuff written", according to frontman Tom Meighan.

Speaking to Absolute Radio, the singer said that the band's lead songwriter Serge Pizzorno had been hard at work on new material, but that the band probably wouldn't record anything until 2013.

Asked about this, Meighan said: "I think Sergio's got loads of stuff written already. I imagine he has because he never stops writing. So I can't imagine when we're going to record a record, not at the moment, probably next year sometime."

The singer also spoke about the band's recent tour of America and said that he feels the band are on the verge of a breakthrough with US audiences.

He added: "I think the future looks good for us in America because we haven't been there for five years because we had a bit of politics with our record company. The shows were great and we were in Middle America, in nowhere places, so once you start getting people interested you're doing OK.''

Kasabian were added to the bill for BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend event and will headline Reading And Leeds Festivals later this summer.

Kasabian are also playing T In The Park, which is taking place from July 6-8 in Balado Park, Kinross. To check the availability of T In The Park 2012 tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
