Kasabian and Noel Gallagher are rumoured to be recording a cover of 'Walking In The Air' for a remake of Christmas classic The Snowman.

The animated film has been remade for Channel 4's Christmas schedule this year and producers are keen to get an impressive list of musicians involved in the theme tune, first made famous by Aled Jones in 1985. Kasabian and Editors have reportedly been approached and producers are said to be keen to get Noel Gallagher on board.

"The Snowman animated film, from which the song comes, is getting a modern twist and there are a lot of beardy blokes - who remember the film from their childhood - who are really keen to get involved," a source told The Mirror. "Everybody wants to pay homage to the Yuletide carrot-nosed legend."

The source added: "Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian and Tom Smith from Editors were among the first to be asked, but the producers hope to rope in the likes of Noel Gallagher and the indie elite, too. Nobody wanted to do a straight cover of such a classic song, so it had to be a bit different. This was the only way The Snowman could possibly get any cooler."

'Walking In The Air' was originally recorded in 1982 by Peter Auty. The Maccabees also recorded a cover version of the song in 2010.

Kasabian recently confirmed their first festival date of 2013. The 'Velociraptor!' band will headline Snowbombing in Austria.
