Kasabian have announced details of a massive homecoming gig in Leicester next year to mark their 10th anniversary.

The band will play a 35,000 capacity gig in June 2014 to mark 10 years since they released their debut album, 'Kasabian' in 2014. The band will headline Victoria Park in the city on June 21. Tickets, priced at £39.50, go on sale on Friday at 9am. Local residents tickets with postcode's commencing LE1 7 and LE2 1 are available on a first come first served basis until December 6. Scroll down for more information.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, Guitarist Sergio Pizzorno says: "It feels like it was just meant to be. It's going to be the 10-year anniversary of the first album, so it feels right. It feels like we've been building up to this since the start. We're so excited. Hopefully the whole city will come alive."

Pizzorno hopes the gig will inspire local kids. "We really want to do something to inspire the next generation of kids. If you're a kid and you see a band from down the road play a big gig in your city. I hope that's inspiring," he said. "We had to travel round the country to see the bands we liked when we were young, so it's great to be able to do this."

Kasabian are currently working on their new album, the follow up to 2011 album 'Velociraptor!'. Meanwhile, The band are also early favourites to headline Glastonbury 2014, with Oasis an outside bet according to bookmakers. A spokesperson for bookmakers William Hill announced that both Kasabian, who last played the festival in 2009, and Foo Fighters, last seen at Glastonbury in 1998, have odds of 6/1 to top the bill in 2014.
