Serge says next Kasabian album will be heavy and ‘bombastic’

Leicester band interviewed in today's brand new issue of NME

Serge Pizzorno says Kasabian’s next album will be “bombastic”.

The group released ’48:13′ this year, but the guitarist is already thinking ahead to the next one.

Pizzorno told NME: “I’m always thinking about [the next record]. As soon as a week’s passed after finishing one record, I’m on to the next. I’ve no idea whatsoever what it’s going to be like yet – this is the best bit ‘cos it could go anywhere. But it’ll definitely be heavy. It’ll definitely be bombastic. That’s what’s going on in my head right now.”

Pizzorno spoke to NME at their iTunes Festival show at London’s Roundhouse on September 5, at which the group marked the tenth anniversary of their debut album by performing it in full in the first of two sets. “Last week, Pizzorno said that every landlord in Leicester owes him a beer due to the boost to local pubs caused by the band’s June homecoming show in the city’s Victoria Park.

He said: “Everything just went according to plan. The atmosphere, it’s still now reverberating around the city. Pubs sold out at 9.30pm – every landlord in Leicester owes me a beer!”

“In the street when I’m walking around with my kids people were saying to me, ‘Mate that was life-changing’. It just had a huge effect on the city, for that reason it was the most amazing day ever. Then we rolled in a week later into Glastonbury which, for different reasons, was a milestone. Also, we managed to do OK there, which is not easy and we had a great night. Once those two things were out of the way everything else has just been easy.”
