Kasabian thank 'Peter Crouch and his missus' in NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas acceptance speech

Kasabian have won Best British Band supported by Marshall and Best Album at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas.

The Leicester band score the two prestigious gongs tonight at London's O2 Academy Brixton. They were presented with the award for Best Album - for 2014's '48:13' - by Kevin Rowland of Dexys.

Wearing a T-shirt with "Ta" written on it, guitarist Serge Pizzorno high-fived footballer Peter Crouch on his way to the stage to accept the award. He then thanked Crouch and his "missus" for "putting up with all my fucking noise".

Tom Meighan started singing 'Come On Eileen' to Kevin Rowland, who responded: "That was a long time ago, Tom. This is the present."

Kasabian were also named Best British Band supported by Marshall, presented by magician Dynamo. "Everybody this is fucking Dynamo. Hello Dynamo," Meighan said. "We're very humbled, privileged and proud to win this award because we've been doing this since we were 16. Thanks very much NME. God bless."

Meanwhile, Royal Blood have scored their second award of the evening, winning Best Live Band supported by Dead Crow Spirit Flavoured Beers. The duo were presented with the award by Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor, daughter of Duran Duran's John Taylor and Amanda de Cadenet. "Wow, I'd like to thank the rest of the band. Mike, thank you," Ben Thatcher said. Mike Kerr added: "Not sure we agree with the result but nevertheless, thanks."

Earlier in the evening Foo Fighters confirmed a headline slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival in their acceptance speech for Best International Band supported by Austin, Texas – The Live Music Capital Of The World® at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas.
